Arctic Monkeys To Headline Reading and Leeds

If the previous announcements weren’t enough to entice you to grab your Reading or Leeds ticket as soon as possible, then maybe this might compel you to move your curser to snap your ticket up straight away.

Riding high off of the acclaim for their fifth album ‘AM’, as well as last summer’s Glastonbury headline slot and a sold-out UK Tour in October, Arctic Monkeys have been announced headliners for Reading and Leeds festival. They become the second headliner for the festival, joining Blink 182, with the third to be announced in the coming months.

Drummer Matt Helders spoke to NME about headlining the festival. He said, “We’ve got a lot of history with the festival. It’s the first festival I ever went to – we all went together as kids, with Nick as well. We were 15 or 16 and it was a big deal going to a festival like that on your own”.

Along with Arctic Monkeys, acts such as Courteeners, You Me At Six, SBTRKT, Pusha T and Royal Blood have been added to the line-up. The 1975, who rammed the Festival Republic tent full of fans last year are also joining the line-up on a bigger stage. On performing at the festivals again they said, “We grew up going to Reading & Leeds Festival. It’s so humbling knowing we are going to play such a prestigious slot there this year. Cannot wait!”

DJ Annie Mac is also another welcome addition to the bill. She said, “Reading & Leeds Festival is close to my heart and I went religiously back before I was a DJ. It’s been a dream to play there and I’m really looking forward to it.”
