Wigan act quickly to replace Koné

Having agreed a deal to sell Arouna Koné to Everton earlier in the day, Wigan were quick to confirm the signing of a replacement in the form of Grant Holt on a three-year-deal.

The 32-year-old had a medical at the Lancashire club earlier this morning after an undisclosed fee had been agreed between Wigan and Norwich but that has been completed now and the personal terms have been finalised with Holt putting pen to paper to seal the switch.

Holt is Owen Coyle’s seventh signing of the summer as he looks to have prioritised solving Wigan’s problems up front as Holt becomes the second high-profile striker to sign for the Championship club since Friday; Marc-Antoine Fortuné being the other.

James Perch, Chris McCann, Scott Carson, Stephen Crainey and Thomas Rogne are the other players to have secured moves to the FA Cup winners as they look for an instant return to the Premier League.
