Following an exciting, highly aniticipated mini tour announcement in the lead up to a shiny new album, Charlie Simpson has unveiled a brand new track ‘Winter Hymns’.
The man himself told Fortitude in a recent enough interview that this particular song, along with quite a lot of the new album is more raw (in fact, “raw-er”) than previous releases. He wasn’t lying.
Laying on a gentle set of acoustics, Charlie’s mellow vocals sail like on the softer tracks of ‘Young Pilgrim’. The chorus is a wonderfully mastered bind of harmonies joined by slight piano.
Towards the concluding minute, the track really picks up to a more upbeat, lively remix of the previous two minutes.
As the first track to be revealed from this forthcoming album, it certainly raises hopes for what’s the come.
