Track Review: Brave Little Note – ‘Grrrl Trouble’

As a member of Rod Jones’ The Birthday Suit, and having collaborated with a range of composers and musicians, such as Kenny Anderson of King Creosote, Brave Little Note – aka Jacqueline Irvine – has shown she’s capable of creating an eclectic range of innovative sounds over the years. And now, with her new single, she’s burst into our eardrums with something quite extraordinary.

Described as her “visceral emotional response” to the election of the new POTUS and her own experiences of misogyny, ‘Grrrl Trouble’ is a powerful, angst-driven offering. Filled with glitchy electro sounds and racing with pummelling beats, it’s a unique cacophony bursting with a riotous rage.

Whilst a somewhat disturbing listen at points, this politically charged anthem from Brave Little Note is just what we need right now – a mighty fusion of sounds to empower and motivate in these somewhat disturbing times…

‘Grrrl Trouble’, the new single from Brave Little Note, is out now.
