Over the last year, LA duo Patrick Hart and Tucker Tota – aka Bad Wave – have released a number of innovative indie-pop anthems. Following in the wake of the likes of ‘Daniel’ and ‘3am’, the pair have now released a brand new track.
Inspired by the overwhelming sense of dismay and dread felt at the result of November’s US election, ‘Time To Get Lost’ on the surface sounds like an uptempo slice of electro-pop. Filled with synth-fuelled hooks, reminiscent of the likes of MGMT or Foster The People, it is a truly infectious, undoubtedly danceable, offering.
However, the bubbly pop sounds and catchy, hopeful chorus are juxtaposed with the majestic grandeur of sweeping string melodies. And, as the track ends with an eerie, cinematic sense of impending doom, it becomes clear that ‘Time To Get Lost’ is so much more than your average light-hearted, indie-pop tune.
Expressing an emotion that so many of us must currently be feeling right now, in a way that’s not only powerful but simply downright enjoyable, Bad Wave have shown they’re capable of great things with their latest creation.
