Formidable quartet The Blood Arm have reunited to digitally release their 2004 debut album Bomb
Romantics, available again for the first time in over twenty years on 17th July 2026. The first single to be re-released from the iconic album will be Want x 3, out now.
Bomb Romantics was originally self-released physically as a limited-edition run of 1000 copies in 2004. The album quickly sold out and was never pressed again or released digitally, with the physical copies becoming rare collectibles. The band then went on to release four more critically-acclaimed albums and have been on hiatus since 2017. They have now received the rights to their debut album back and are finally making it widely available on streaming services for the very first time. The artwork encapsulates the band’s signature style from over twenty years ago, when their debut first dropped.
Known for their sharp, hook-heavy, indie-infused bangers, Want x 3 is no exception. The single channels desire, and dark humour into a punchy, modern anthem that distills obsession, appetite, and restless energy into three explosive minutes. Equal parts urgent and infectious, the song captures the band at their most focused; lean, sharp, and unafraid to lean into the uncomfortable edges of desire. When first released, this single marked a new chapter for The Blood Arm, showcasing a refined sound that kept their restless energy intact whilst sharpening their songwriting game. Fans of smart, high-voltage indie rock will find plenty to latch onto here.
Talking about the release, singer Nathaniel Fregoso says, “I remember when we used to play live, I thought, this is our hit song, this is the one the audience always reacts to, this is the one girls talk to me about after the gig. I was convinced this was going to launch us into the stratosphere. Once we actually started interacting with music industry people, no one responded to this song. They all said, ‘this is not the hit.’ But I still love the song and I think it accurately represents what we were trying to do at that time.”
Bomb Romantics was a self-funded collection of lo-fi songs recorded in a garage studio over one weekend, which then sold out and generated the buzz that got them noticed abroad. The album received critical acclaim from the likes of NME and DIY, as well as BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq. Whilst not a traditional concept album with a single continuous narrative, Bomb Romantics captures the raw energy and early ethos of The Blood Arm, making it an extremely significant release for the band.
