Liverpool agree moves for young Spanish aces

Brendan Rodgers is on the cusp of completing moves for highly-rated Spanish youngsters, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto.

A fee was agreed for Aspas, 25, with relegation threatened Celta Vigo yesterday believed to be in the region of £8m whereas a move for Luis Alberto was agreed with Sevilla mere moments ago.

Aspas is forward that has garnered much attention from potential suitors over the course of the season as his goals have kept Celta in the hunt for La Liga survival; the likes of Reading, and Tottenham were rumoured to be chasing him but now Liverpool have triggered the release clause in his contract and subject to a medical and agreement of personal terms, which seems to just be a formality at this point, the player will join Liverpool after the end of the Spanish season.

Alberto on the other hand is a player much in the mould of Phillipe Coutinho. He operates across the midfield and sometimes as a forward and has had successful loan spells at the likes of Barcelona B so again this likes a shrewd bit of business.

These two moves see Rodgers going back to his usual transfer policy of buying youngsters with great potential whereas earlier in the week he did break that mould with a move for experienced Ivorian centre-back, Kolo Touré.

Liverpool’s willingness to get their chequebook out must encourage fans as recently their superstar striker, Luis Suarez has struck fear to the hearts of Reds fans by saying a move to Real Madrid would be ‘hard to turn down’ so Liverpool spending money will hopefully be a good indication to the Uruguayan that Liverpool are more than willing to spend to return to the Champions League.
