Mark Hughes named Stoke City Manager

After much speculation as to who would replace former head-coach, Tony Pulis, Stoke City have confirmed this morning that former Wales coach Mark Hughes id to take the reigns at the Britannia Stadium.

The ex-Manchester United striker is set to be unveiled to the press later today as Hughes embarks on his first managerial job since he was sacked by QPR in November.

Hughes has a mixed record as a manager. Having not had much luck as Wales coach he took a post at Ewood Park and guided Blackburn Rovers to three consecutive top-10 finishes. From there on in though, Hughes’ career took a bit of a down turn after failing to bring glory to Manchester City, Fulham or QPR in any of his tenures with those clubs respectively.

The Welshman is set to sign a three-year contract but whether or not the fans will make it easy for him to last that long is another thing as some Stoke supporters are already staging protests to have Hughes removed when he hasn’t even officially started the role yet.

Only time will tell though. What do you think? Did Stoke make the right move? Let us know in the comments section below!
