I think it would be logical to assume that the man standing on the rubble is Benedict Cumberbatch, the villain of the movie who is yet to be named. And he appears to be looking over to a devastated city which, according to the synopsis, will be somewhere on Earth.
Abrams has also taken a Dark Knight Rises approach by having the hole in the building shaped as the Starfleet logo.
Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on the 17th May next year and by then, we will hopefully have a few more answers. But one thing is for certain… Star Trek fans should be getting excited!
