Southampton has produced an abundance of talented, forward thinking acts. Take Creeper, a band who’ve propelled with their debut record “Eternity, In Your Arms“, and have also gone on to wow the estranged and the runaways.
And under a similar umbrella stands Miss Vincent, a band who’ve worked their hands to the bone, weaving and maximising their dark sound.
The band take influence from the highly sought after Chicago dark princes Alkaline Trio. They’re an act drawn to the macabre, enticed by the profound art of gloom, but it isn’t all doom. The new single ‘Cold Hands’ is a brilliant punk number, offering an insight into the lives of this radical band. The words are cut throat and dramatic, anchored towards pain ridden mind-sets and downtrodden feelings. They’re exceptional though, written with intent and verve.
The guitar drives home a great riff too, paying homage to Matt Skiba and his intricate workings. The thumping drumbeat cancels out any chance of subtleness, and the vocals are well tuned and brooding. The song does sound like Miss Vincent, and that’s a great thing, as their music portrays signified rage and lost love, in a convincing manner.
