Single Review: Redolent – ‘Dantercepies’

Experimental electronic-rock band, Redolent, offer up a refreshing alternative to the dreamy soundscapes of contemporary electronic music on their latest single ‘Dantercepies’.

With a sound similar to the early works of The Prodigy and Holy Fuck, the track envelopes you in its atmospheric, stomping drum beats and light electronic pulses, creating a conflicting yet harmonious dynamic throughout. Paired with sharp lyrics, intensely delivered by singer Robin Herbert’s Edinburgh inflected accent, the track propels you along at break neck speed, barely stopping for breath as it crescendos towards its close.

Named after a cable car in Italy and the heightened emotion Herbert experiences when taking part in extreme sports like skiing, ‘Dantercepies’ is an adrenaline-fuelled track by the Edinburgh based four-piece, that is as lo-fi as it is grandiose in both production and delivery.

‘Dantercepies’ by Redolent is out now via Aspartame.
