Single Review: Love Malison – Pseudo

Four-piece London based rock band Love Malison have released their raucous new single, Pseudo. The grunge-inspired track has been unveiled a day ahead of their debut at Camden Rocks All-Dayer as they gear up to headline the show on Saturday 14th May.

The band first came together after a chance meeting between vocalist Ed Francis and guitarist Thamer Shakarchi. As Shakarchi worked tirelessly to up his shredding game, the formation of a collection of songs began to take place. As with all bands in the past couple of years, the pandemic punctuated any chance of recording the material. With Spiros Kourakis (bass) and Adam Jones (drums, vocals) on board they created a group chat to develop ideas amongst themselves, sharing demos along the way. The time was not wasted as the band produced a number of tracks that would, ultimately, end up being officially released post-pandemic.

Pseudo is their latest, as they continue to grow with each and every release. A nod to 90’s rock and the angsty, grungey tones of the era, Love Malison have concocted a tune that is very much in their own image. Grimey guitar spits out from the speakers straight from first note, before Francis’ vocals kick in taking aim at bands who create pseudo-political music, caring less about the message itself and more so the number of clicks and follows they will amass on social media. As the rhythm section impressively keep the track grooving, Shakarchi displays his majestic ability on the guitar, the track building throughout to a thundering crescendo. There’s more than a hint of The Real Thing era Faith No More, as the band take their inspirations from the past and bring them kicking and screaming into 2022.

With Pseudo now out for the world to hear and a headline slot at Camden Rocks All-Dayer on the horizon, Love Malison will be keen to showcase their brand of pulsating alternative rock to a wider audience.

Pseudo is out now.
