Single Review: Coltana – ‘Break Her’

Brixton based alt-rock band Coltana have released their explosive new single Break Her which is out now via their indie label Poeticat Presents. Before Coltana came to be in 2015, the band (under their former name Poeticat) have previously played at Glastonbury Festival and even shared a stage with Ed Sheeran before his inevitable rise to fame.

Coltana’s new single Break Her shows the band’s upbeat nature, incorporating diverse structure and adding something more interesting and innovative to the single. Compared to your average indie punk band Coltana seem like they purposely step out of their comfort zone to do things a little differently, which is makes it ever so much more inviting.

The track chops and changes tempo in-between sections, allowing vocalist Cat to get more create with her tone and style. The chorus holds the song together and supplies the much needed back bone of the track, whilst allowing twists and turns throughout, stimulating the listener with something out of the ordinary.

Break Her is a glorious new start for Coltana, a start that gives them a means to carry on doing what they love and producing something contemporary and original, allowing them to encourage other artists to break out of the norm and try the same.

Break Her by Coltana is out now via Poeticat Presents.
