Manchester’s Codex have announced themselves with the release of the electronic, glitch-heavy new single, Airport.
Having met at just 11 years old, friends Shahriar Parast and Adam Mayer have honed their musical talents over a considerable period of time. The talented duo have combined their production skills, as well as a keen ability to create memorable melodies, constructing an eclectic style of electronica they can call their own.
Airport is the latest single to be released from the up and comers and it encapsulates everything that Codex are all about. Opening with sporadic, sampled drum beats, the track begins to evolve as Shahriar Parast’s effected vocals flow seamlessly over the hypnotic percussion, resulting in a sombre, introspective single release that is as clinical as it is personal.
The release of Airport is the culmination of a band who had put in the hard yards. Having self-released and self-promoted their music to great effect, Codex made the longlist of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition as well as gaining airplay on BBC Radio and Amazing Radio. The pair began to build a name for themselves on Manchester’s underground music scene leading to a support slot with Battles at Gorilla in Manchester in 2019. Codex are aiming to release more music in 2020 before aiming to get back to live shows as soon as it is permitted to do so.
