Having formed back in 2012, Glasgow-based indie rockers, Del, Greg, Harry and Andy – aka The Calm Fiasco – have garnered a wealth of support over the last five years, from the likes of Clash Magazine, Tenement TV and Amazing Radio, and have now released their scintillating new EP.
The Fear is a collection of solid, infectious, indie-rock anthems that are sure to become ear-worms upon first listen. As each track races with a youthful, fuzzy energy, you can easily imagine them being blasted out with gusto to jam-packed stadiums.
EP opener ‘Lose Control’ immediately introduces you to the band’s pounding beats and whirring hooks as a rising tension builds throughout, resulting in an utterly captivating example of energy-fuelled indie rock. Following in its predecessor’s footsteps is the impassioned ‘Soursucker’; filled with thrashing beats and a riotous rock spirit, it’ll have your feet tapping and your head banging in no time.
Probably the catchiest offering of the lot, ‘Just Don’t Care Anymore’ exudes an incredible, powerful energy, as ‘Sorry I’m Late Again’ is propelled forwards by its jangly melodies and the distinct Scottish twang of Del Morin’s vocals.
Closing the collection on a poppier note is ‘She Said’. A fitting end to the EP, it races with pummelling beats and infectious, scuzzy hooks, reminiscent of the likes of noughties indiesters The Enemy.
