Russell Peters’ Notorious World Tour Hits The UK

Russell Peters Notorious World Tour has been setting sales and attendance records around the world since its launch in the Middle East in March 2012.

“Notorious” has become the highest attended comedy show in the history of the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Lebanon, South Africa, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and his home country of Canada – with audiences between 3,000 to 16,000 fans attending the shows.

In Dubai, Peters was the fastest selling concert in the history of the Emirate – outselling Madonna. On November 10th, Peters became the first comedian to play Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center. Over 10,000 fans attended the show, making it the largest comedy show ever in the history of the New York City borough.

The UK leg of the tour in April 2013 will see Russell play to audiences in Birmingham, London, Manchester and Glasgow. Russell Peters tickets go on-sale 9am on Friday 23rd November and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

The Notorious World Tour features ALL NEW MATERIAL from the Brampton, Ontario raised comic. “I’ve been working on the new act since last year and building and developing the new material in clubs across the States,” says Peters. The new material has been met with rave reviews from Peters rabid fans around the world. “It’s been great being back on-stage and back on the road again.”

Peters’ last special, The Green Card Tour LIVE From the O2 Arena, was recorded in London in 2010. The special was broadcast on Showtime, Comedy Central and Netflix USA and Netflix UK. In 2009, Peters set a UK attendance record for the highest attendance for a one-off comedy show with over 16,000 fans attending his show at the O2 Arena. Peters also went on to have the highest attended comedy shows at Sydney, Australia’s Acer Arena and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena in 2010.

The Notorious World Tour will feature Russell’s Official Tour DJ’s, Toronto’s DJ Starting from Scratch and New York City’s DJ Spinbad, as well as video cameras and screens for an up-close and intimate show, which will capture Peters’ signature audience improv in an arena setting.

Starting in 2008, Peters was one of the first stand-up comedians to self-finance, self-produce and distribute his own comedy specials and DVD’s, with Red, White and Brown and 2011’s, The Green Card Tour LIVE from the O2 Arena. The DVD’s went on to sell over 250,000 units across North America. Peters is currently developing original programming for Netflix.

Peters has given away more than a million dollars over the past several years to various charities, from the Brampton Civic Hospital, to Heart House Hospice, Gilda’s Club, the MS Society and a scholarship at his old high-school, The Russell Peters North Peel Scholarship to send a deserving student to college. The scholarship is now in its third year.

Listed on the Forbes List as one of the top ten Highest Earning Comics in the U.S. in 2009 and 2010, Russell Peters has spent the past 23 years building a career to become one of the biggest comics in the world. Thanks to YouTube and a global following, Peters has sold-out arenas from Madison Square Garden to the Sydney Opera House.
