Bristol’s beloved one-day, multi-venue festival Ritual Union have announced the second wave of artists for this year’s edition. Taking over the city on Saturday 28th March, the festival will once again combine the best emerging and established artists from across the UK’s vibrant music scene. Limited third release tickets are on sale now.
The festival takes place across three of Bristol’s most iconic venues, all within walking distance: Electric Bristol, Rough Trade, and Strange Brew – now joined by The Lanes on Nelson Street, acting as a hub for festival go-ers to recharge and connect with likeminded people to discuss their highlights of the day.
Leading the second wave of announcements is Working Men’s Club, with their blend of post-punk, synth-pop, and dance music. This will be the band’s first time back in Bristol since 2022! Starting life as the sound of singer-songwriter Syd Minsky-Sargeant processing teenage life in Todmorden in the Calder Valley, the band’s self-titled debut became a refreshing sonic and lyrical breakthrough, top to bottom rigour with influences between Krautpop, Afrobeat, jolting dancefloor energy. Since then, the group have achieved sell out tours and TV appearances including Later with Jools Holland, Q Awards, and Aim Award nominations. Having rounded off their second album campaign with a sellout UK and European tour and mesmerizing showstopper of a set at Glastonbury 2023, Minsky-Sargeant has been cemented as one of the most exciting and intriguing songwriters and frontmen of a generation.
Also joining this year’s line up are GIRL IN THE YEAR ABOVE; an Irish / Cornish band creating a sound that blends a Celtic, storytelling feel with a ferocious emotional performance to remind you of the messy magic of being alive. They are currently supporting The Kooks on their European tour and have amassed over 74k followers on Instagram – all before releasing a single song!
Dead Dad’s Club – helmed by Chilli Jesson (previously Palma Violets) – will also be performing, who regularly performs live with Fontaines D.C. Expect soaring indie hooks, visceral energy and one of the most emotionally resonant live sets emerging from the UK guitar scene right now.
