With Youtube and its growing community at its peak, popular Youtuber Dave Giles came up with the idea of Upload Tour quite a while ago.

Following the success of the last tour, the four very successful lads- Dave Giles, Eddplant, BriBry and Luke Cutforth gave it another shot with Upload Tour 2.

Arriving at the first of two sold out Dublin shows in Bewleys Café Theatre, Luke Cutforth- better known to many as LukeIsNotSexy- skipped up on stage to present the show and provide us with humorous conversation, as only he does best. First up to provide a musical sensation was the very talented UK singer-songwriter, Eddplant. Easing into a wonderful set of chilled songs, Edd’s sound was beautifuly complimented by the calm atmosphere always present at this intimate venue. Laying down his deep vocals, reminiscent of a Secondhand Serenade tone, which were firmly “planted” in his opening track -‘Less Than Three’, he encouraged what became a timid singsong among the crowd.

Moving onto title track of his album- ‘Nothing to Worry About’, which elegantly provided a kaleidoscope of honest lyricism set to a storyline. Belting out plenty more tracks throughout his set, including a sweet folk song which seemed to lift the mood quite a bit. Enlightening such a strong set, the song which did it for me was, without a doubt, ‘Across The Line’, for which he was accompanied in harmony by Dave Giles.

Next to grace the stage to an extremely welcoming home crowd was the much adored “Irish willy on Youtube”- BriBry O’Reilly. Joined by Dave for his opening, and most powerful track- ‘Staying Together’, he had fans quietly singing along from the first verse. Delivering a set of his most well-known songs, ‘Sum Me Up’ was next on the cards. The gentle guitar picking rang around the room, standing as a platform for BriBry’s always so honest lyrics. A declaration of his want for fatherhood led to the heart-wrenching track- ‘Child’, which appeared on his latest EP, ‘Grow’ earlier this year.

A refrained, acoustic cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego House’  followed, as well as fan-favourite- ‘Adventure Time’, before his very successful, radio-played single, ‘Your Life Over Mine’ stepped in line to complete his set; during which the backing vocals spoke for themselves among the crowd.

The last to perform in this intimate setting, was the cheerful performer, Essex singer-songwriter, Dave Giles. Opening with a catchy, upbeat song, taken over by animated guitar picking, Dave lit up the stage. Telling a little story before each song, he went on to play a song about his Grandfather- ‘The Strongest Man In The World’, which he executed with pure passion. Progressing to what was stated as BriBry’s favourite- ‘The Girl Who Said Yes’, resulted in being the most powerful performance of the night, in both stage presence and lyrics, with BriBry firing out flawless harmonies.

As Dave went from ‘Waiting Room Blues’ which was ultimately a massive story; to the point where he began speaking to gentle guitar strums; to using a countless amount of Harry Potter metaphors in another song; to his final track, which saw him unplug his guitar to wander around the tables in the crowd.

Three absolutely fantastic performances from some of Youtube’s best, concluded by all four residing on stage for ‘Mr. Brightside’, a routine of movie quotes, rolling into ‘Baby’ by Justin Bieber, and finishing full circle on ‘Mr. Brightside’.
