Another set of oozing Irish talent was set to unfold this week at Leopardstown Racecourse, with Monaghan born singer/songwriter, and boss of Acoustic, Ryan Sheridan taking to the stage.
Opening the show with ‘Stand Up Tall‘, the crowd were edging towards the stage, drinks in hand, settling into the chilled “Thursday at Leopardstown” atmosphere. Excelling pure passion and power through mere guitar chords, Ryan has a stage presence to admire.
Portraying this outdoor stage as his own, Ryan moved through a set list of both his older, more recognised hits, with a taste of some new material he’s had up his sleeve for the upcoming album. Teasing the crowd slowly into manic excitement with slow guitar picking, Ryan eventually broke into the familiar anthem of ‘Jigsaw‘. Having built the crowd up with his perfect rendition of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nations Army‘, ‘Jigsaw‘ came as an even bigger treat.
Jimmy Rainsford on drums is always something to see, but when it’s blended with the power of Ryan Sheridan, it emerges onto the level of spectacular. Drawing ‘Jigsaw‘ to a close with a cajon drum solo, slowly joined by Ryan’s belting guitar in a flawless play-off, it was talent at its best.
Ending his set on ‘The Dreamer‘, the crowd were clapping and singing along, only to greet Ryan back on stage the second it finished. Producing an encore in the sense of ‘The Game‘, the entire set from beginning to end was full of life- Ryan Sheridan is certainly on the list of unmissable live performers.
