Review: Look Alive – Mistakes and Milestones

After coming together in August 2012 Look Alive have wasted no time in starting something that could turn out to be something very special. It took the 5 piece no time at all to get signed to Autumn + Colour Records and get started on Mistakes and Milestones.

After a 50 second instrumental intro track we are hit immediately with great aggressive pop punk vocals from vocalist Jacob Causey. The thing about Look Alive that really stands out is that although they use vocals and lyrics that suit aggressive type pop punk that you hear from the likes of The Story So Far, Real Friends and Lost Years they have great accompanying melodies that blend really nicely with the vocals.

This blend of melody and aggressive vocals is evident in “Sink or Swim”. The song has both aggressive vocals but a catchy and up beat rhythm. This carries on throughout the EP. You would think that this would make the release sound like one long 17 minute track but there is a little twist and something different added to every song keeping you entertained throughout.

Look Alive have built solid foundations with this EP and could really set their scene alight if they continue the way they are going. Mistakes and Milestones is released July 2nd 2013 on Autumn  + Colour Records.
