Review: Jack Ryan- The Strong EP

Extremely talented, Dublin singer/songwriter, Jack Ryan is set to release a mass of sensational tracks in the form of his debut EP- ‘The Strong’ EP.

Beginning with title track, ‘Strong’, displaying intricate guitar-picking and delicate strums, forming a wonderful foundation for when Jack’s uniquely powerful voice graces the platform. With a fast-running chorus, and more laid-back verses, this track sits on a throne above many opening tracks; not to mention its extreme potential to have you singing along from the first chorus!

Moving through to absolute, without-a-doubt stand out track of this EP- ‘Fingertips’, which takes the fantastic art of finger-picking and excels it on a whole new level with an addictive, catchy beat residing behind it. This real feel-good sounding track is not only flawless in terms of the instrumental style, as Jack’s vocals belt out wonderfully honest lyrics in the most energetic, raw fashion.

The second half of this EP brings a more generic, mellow sound with steady rhythmed track- ‘My Dear B’, and more groove-sounding finishing track- ‘Just Friends’. These two tracks, showcasing a more smooth texture to Jack’s voice, remain in a complex field, with so much going on along the instrumental aspect of the song.

With that whole singer/songwriter style and genre currently at its peak, this EP, and Jack’s uniquely irresistable sound makes a nice change, transforming the now common acoustic trend into an intricate complexity that leaves you wanting more- and hopefully we won’t be left waiting too long!

This EP will be be available at midnight (April 21st) on iTunes.
