Review: House of Marley – Exodus Headphones

The exodus headphones are one of the most elegant headphones I’ve seen in a very long time, made from recyclable aluminium, copper and beech wood that is flexible and at the same time so sturdy there is no fear you might break them.

The speakers are two separate entity’s which at first look I thought was genius, but after extensive use I felt that if the two  cups were wired together to have the cord only on one of the speakers this would make for a greater headphone experience.

Exodus headphones sit on your head very tightly which completely takes away any fear of them falling off, but this has the even better benefit of you not loosing any of the sound quality as the tightness reduces so much sound, its phenomal. However I am a glasses wearer, and I found that I was constantly having to sit the headphones slightly lower down on my ears as after a while the tightness of the headphones began to make my glasses dig in to the side of my head which lead to quite an uncomfortable experience after only a medium amount of use. Luckly though for of you with 20/20 vision or regular contact lense users you will not have to deal with this problem. On the contrary, these headphones are one of the most comfortable over ear headphones I’ve experienced in some time, which is mostly down to the soft leather cover on the speakers.

The sound of these headphones can handle almost all music with ease. House of  Marley really do have these headphones tuned expertly, the lows are punchy, you can clearly hear mid range and vocals, and the high end frequency’s are clear and crisp. I have to note that for those of you who enjoy all manor of music production, these the headphones I would thoroughly recommend, I was finding that listening to albums that I have heard 1000 times became a different experience as different sounds that are generally lost with most headphones (as many manufactors go from either being too tinny or too bassy) are heard crisp and clear.

The only genre I felt they were struggling slightly with was hardcore as the distorted low tuned guitars and harsh vocals were fighting to be heard properly through the Exodus headphones.  I must recommend listening to acoustic based music with these headphones as the clean production normally associated with the genre creates a relaxing experience to say the least.

Watching video with these headphones is okay, what I mean is that it doesn’t really add too much to the experience that I can really note down, but they are more than sufficient if you’re just watching something on your laptop casually.

I quite liked using these headphones to play games with, explosions on bassy, foot prints and far away firing is crisp that your emersion in the game becomes higher and more enjoyable.

I feel these headphones are for a young commuter who needs an all round experience. It’s more for those type of people who want to invest in to a pair of  upperclass headphones that will last.
