Review: Example – The Evolution Of Man

Elliot Gleave, aka Example, has entertained us all, at some point, with his Twitter humour, admirable characteristics and tongue-in-cheek television appearances, but it’s his music that continues to captivate the globe.

Following back-to-back single success from his chart-topping album ‘Playing In The Shadows’, it seems that Gleave has the ambition to continue his lyrical darkness whilst poetically insulting anyone that has hurt or offended him in the past – ‘Perfect Replacement’ is tirade of abuse fired to his past lovers.

Example, recently, stated that he is not a rapper, but a singer, and however much you try to argue the case; it’s true. He’s changed. This is: ‘The Evolution of Elliot Gleave’.

His quirky flows within ‘What We Made’ and ‘Won’t Go Quietly’ seem to have disappeared, as he and his music’s maturity increases with the winning-formulae that has elevated his status, within the industry, being showcased across every track. Synth-fuelled beats, bass heavy tracks and anthem-like chants, it’s no wonder to witness his rise as he becomes a household name within the UK scene.

Example is not the unapologetic rapper that we once knew; he’s the modern-day pop star producing hit after hit, without that commercial manufacturing. “I’m getting better, I’m getting better”; we know Elliot, we know.
