Chart topping singer-rapper Example brought his new arena tour show to Liverpool and certainly brought lights, raves and an explosive show with him.
With support coming from dubstep ravers P-Money and Benga, the crowd was in full rave mood for when Example and his band hit the stage.
Opening his set with arguably the song that made him the massive artist he is ‘Kickstarts’ before going straight into his first single ‘Wont Go Quietly’, its safe to say Example found the Liverpool crowd’s wild side with a huge rave on the floor.
Slowing down slightly to let the crowd catch their breath, rap song ‘See The Sea’ was played before Example brought the rave back with ‘Stay Awake’ and the first song of the night from his latest album ‘Evolution of Man’, ‘Come Taste The Rainbow’. Example played remixes on a few of his tracks including Flux Pavilions remix of ‘Midnight Run’.
Moving into ‘Under The Influence’ the fans found the top of their voices before the track was remixed into Example’s massive dubstep anthem with Skream ‘Shot Yourself In The Foot Again’.
With a brilliant light show and the occasional flamethrower, it just made the show even more impressive. Moving into ‘Whisper’ and ‘Lets Be F*****g Stupid’ from the deluxe version of ‘Evolution of Man’, the latter literally sending the crowd stupid. We then hit old classic ‘Hooligans’, by far the song of the night; the crowd went up a level, raves went bigger, voices went louder and a huge circle pit appeared in the middle of the floor.
With the atmosphere at its peak, Example played one for the lovers, ‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ saw couples arm in arm, swaying in the crowd, and yes, you guessed it, another rave.
Finishing the main part of his set with 2012 anthem with Calvin Harris ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’ and lead single from the last album ‘Say Nothing’ with was played with a Hardwell remix, Example and his band left the stage before coming back to play a four song encore. Dancefloor filler ‘Natural Disaster’ with a Benni Benassi outro remix kicked the encore off before playing ‘The Way’, new single ‘Perfect Replacement’ before giving the lively Liverpool crowd one last chance to rave by ending the set with ‘Changed The Way You Kissed Me’.
If this show proved anything, its that Example is the ultimate crowd pleaser and he certainly knows how to get a crowd going. On the back of this performance, its pretty clear why he is headlining UK Festivals this summer, I for one cannot wait to see him again.
