Review: David Wax Museum- Knock Knock Get Up

Mellow-gracing, mexo-americana group David Wax Museum are set to release their latest album, ‘Knock Knock Get Up’ on June 17th.

‘Knock Knock Get Up’ is an energy-filled album screaming elements of folk, but with an underlying blanket of hard-hitting indie. Opening with ‘Will You Be Sleeping?’, the album takes an upbeat kickstart, from which the majority of the remaining tracks tend to follow. A slightly more rustic Indie platform holds this catchy song while David Wax’s (essentially half of the band) vocals lead us into folk territory.

Songs like ‘Vivian’, ‘The Rumours Are True’ and ‘Refuge’ are emanating that summer vibe with feel-good melodies, arriving to form the album’s peak, while ‘Wondrous Love’ shows the more mellow side to David Wax Museum’s noise-filled, rough sound.

Throwing out that Indie-folk sound which has been rekindled by so many bands at present, David Wax Museum break the routine with a little cultural maturity, which flourishes under the competition of today’s music scene.

‘Knock Knock Get Up’ is available to download on iTunes.
