Review: Darrell Coyle- All I Need EP

Derry Singer/Songwriter, Darrell Coyle has really taken his style of songwriting and carried it to the max with his second EP ‘All I Need’ set for release this week…

This 5 track EP delves into themes and sibjects which succeed in finding common ground with so many people; hence Darrell’s growing fanbase. The record as a whole displays fantastic elements of that mere singer/songwriter quality that’s so prominent on the scene at the moment, and it couldn’t possibly be ready at a better time- just after a major support slot with Lauren Aquilina.

The opening and title track, ‘All I Need’ is such a wonderful song to set the bar for the remaining four tracks. Remaining the most outstanding for me, it punches such a full sound with an upbeat, catchy chorus to follow through. The easy flowing melody the track entails is something Coyle has certainly hit on the head.

Tracks such as ‘Love Song’ and ‘Say You Want This’ show a softer side to Darrell’s music, and although a risky twist for many artists, it really shines on Coyle’s sound. Clear influences from Ben Howard and Matt Corby radiate on Darrell’s sound as a whole, and it really helps his sound find its place in the industry.

The harmonies in ‘The Love Song’ are something to be mentioned as they captivate the track beautiully. in ‘Say You Want This’, Coyle’s vocals stand strong as the focus of the entire track and it really sets life into this more chilled, mellow track which sort of sings a Lewis Watson resemblance.

‘All I Need’ is a beautifully constructed EP by this Wall City Records artist, and one which he can be proud to build his career on.
