Primavera Sound Announces 2015 Lineup

Primavera Sound have announced their lineup for the music festival’s 15th Anniversary. Already armed with the news of performances from The Strokes and the reformed Ride, as well as self-announced acts Sun Kil Moon and Richie Hawtin, festival-goers were asked to download a mobile application, “Line-App”, which would host a countdown to 19:00 GMT today, at which time all would be revealed.

The app took a rather unorthodox approach to announcing the acts, as it was revealed to be a mobile game, “Bad Moon”, which was a four-level challenge that revealed acts upon the defeat of every opponent. The defeat of smaller, easier opponents revealed smaller acts, while bigger, more difficult opponents revealed bigger names. Each stage finished with a traditional “boss fight”, which revealed the names of the festival headliners upon success.

During the gruelling and challenging task of completing “Bad Moon”, it was revealed that the likes of Interpol and The Black Keys were just some of the big names joining The Strokes and Ride near the top of the bill.

There weren’t too many shock announcements, as electronica titan Caribou joins Alt-J and Belle & Sebastian on the poster. However, one big surprise was the inclusion of alt-rock pioneers The Replacements, who feature on the Friday of the event. James Blake is also billed for the Friday, after his superb 2013 performance at Parc del Fòrum.

Other highlights include Run The Jewels, Sun Kil Moon, Patti Smith & Band performing Horses, Damien Rice, Death From Above 1979, Swans, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Mac DeMarco, Panda Bear, Sleater-Kinney and Jungle. The full lineup can be viewed at www.primaverasound.com.

Primavera Sound plays host to more than 100,000 people over its 3 days, and this is sure to be another hugely successful year at one of Europe’s most exciting festivals.
