It’s January, so lets stick some more new music down your throat. New kid on the block producer and songwriter Jake Alder has gave us an exclusive stream of his upcoming E.P Copper Sun that will be released this Friday (15th Jan).
Alder is joining the league of similar UK talent such as IYES, Lapsley and Jack Garratt with his commercial 3 track E.P that is set to be a fond favorite in your summer playlist.
The first track on Copper Sun is the murky ‘Sunset’, the down tempo track is aching for a good TV/Film sync as the brooding production is intertwined with Lucy Morris’ delicate vocals creating this harmonised atmosphere that drives your emotions and brain in to reflection of lost love.
Penultimate track ‘With You’ has some serious early Bastille vibes. ‘With You’ would be perfect for the hazey electronic filled period that every dance floor goes through in the night and would inevitably be that song that you desperately search for once you came home. Alder’s solo vocal performance perfectly embodies his talent, I hope to see Alder take the risk with a performance that can show of his range.
Copper Sun’s final track comes in the form of ‘Hands to The Skies’ in which singer Sophy has her vocals display predominately. As Alder’s glitchy beat production builds and builds we are left with a waterfall of electronic euphoria that essentially drops the mic closing the E.P.
Jake Alder is set for something special with his delicate production and emotionally charged lyrics. However, I feel vocally Alder is holding back a monster of a performance. I want to see Alder take more risks, daring to be different, differing from the safe and let his creative juices ebb and flow symbiotically with his production. I look forward to seeing more for him in 2016.
