Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen join cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past

Exciting news for X-Men fans as director, Bryan Singer, announces that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are to reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto in the upcoming movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Via Twitter, Singer confirmed that the dynamic duo would return to the X-Men franchise along with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicolas Hoult who starred as much younger versions of the mutants in X-Men: First Class.

And within days of this being announced, another star from the original trilogy, Hugh Jackman/Wolverine, is in talks for a return. As well as the first three X-Men movies, Jackman appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and had an unforgettable cameo in First Class. He will also be involved in a second solo movie for Wolverine which will be released next year.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released in July 2014 and will be based on the comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues 141 and 142. In these editions, there is two different storylines in the present day, in which the X-men fight the Brother of Evil Mutants, and in the future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels after the Brotherhood assassinate Senator Robert Kelly.
