The first edition of Neighbourhood Weekender takes place in Victoria Park, Warrington on the 26th and 27th May and will be headlined by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and The Courteeners.
The festival takes place in the same place as the first edition of V Festival way back in 1996, which also boasted a line-up as impressive as what Neighbourhood Weekender have put together in what will be one of the best festival lineups in the UK this year; we have put together 5 unmissable artists ahead of the festival:
5: DMA’s
A fairly rare UK festival appearance from Australian trio DMA’s, who are becoming growingly popular on UK shores after their highly acclaimed debut album ‘Hills End’.
Compared to early Oasis, their debut charted in the UK and the band have recently been on tour with The Kooks on their first ever UK arena tour; bringing hits such as ‘Delete’ and latest single ‘Dawning’, DMA’s are not to be missed in Warrington.
4: The Return of Editors
A band that have been round for a long time now and now set in their later sound which moves them away from the indie dancefloor hits such as ‘Munich’ and ‘An End Has a Start’, the bands later music is more Arena ready and the band sound better than ever.
New single ‘Magazine’ was featured on Radio X this week and the band announced they will release new album ‘Violence’ on March 9th, expect to hear some of the new album and old classics at Neighbourhood Weekender.
3: Sam Fender
Tipped to be one of the biggest new artists of 2018, Sam Fender was named in BBCs Sound of 2018 and for very good reason; the 21 year old’s lyrics go further than a typical love song from an artist trying to breakthrough, instead Sam looks more into gritty topics such as sexual harassment and issues that need to be spoke about more.
Sam has more of a gritty old school sound that is still radio ready and is sure to draw a huge crowd at the festival.
2: Miles Kane
He’s back, and is due to release his first music since 2013 this year, and in an interview with Fred Perry, described his new music as having a post punk influence, a Miles Kane influenced by Ramones music sounds like it could beat the highs of his career with his secret lover Alex Turner with the Last Shadow Puppets, it will be interesting to see what music he brings to Neighbourhood Festival but he is certainly not to be missed.
1. St Jude turns 10
The Courteeners debut is 10 years old, yes TEN years old, and they will celebrate in numerous ways including a gig for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall as well as a homecoming gig at Manchester’s Arena, but the band will also bring the celebrations to Warrington in May.
The band, still on a huge high from their massive sell out gig at Manchester’s Cricket ground last summer after the Manchester bombings, are expected to bring most of St Jude to the festival as well as hits from their latest album including ‘the 17th’ and ‘Modern Love’.
Its always loud, its always a rowdy crowd, there’s near always pyro, sounds unmissable, right?
