People of the UK will remember the start of 2005 being dominated by ‘Let Me Love You’, a track that gathered a lot of international chart success and radio plays, sung by American R&B singer Mario.
Despite popular belief, Mario has been working on releases between then and now – in fact he has released 2 albums since and currently prepares for the release of his fifth ‘Restoration’. This will be his first album release with Major label RCA Music Group, following the business’ decision to disband their subsidiary labels J Records (which Mario was signed too), Arista Records and Jive Records.
Teaming up with US rap sensation Nicki Minaj, ‘Somebody Else’ is a strong commercial return for an artist that seems to have been vacant from the UK charts for nearly a decade. Originally considered as a track for Frank Ocean and Chris Brown, Mario offers an elegant vocal that many will easily translate to fellow American superstar Ne-Yo. The single has been produced by Polow Da Don (Nelly/Usher/Pussycat Dolls).
