Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie Join Star Wars: Episode VII

The upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII added two new starlets to its cast this week.

Recent Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o joins the project, along with Game of Thrones favourite Gwendoline Christie.

Nyong’o shot to fame earlier in this year for her phenomenal turn in Steve Mcqueen’s 12 Years a Slave, which saw her claim a best supporting actress Oscar for what was one of her first acting roles, while Christie is best known for playing fierce warrior Brienne of Tarth in fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

It’s unclear yet who the pair will play, but rumours have been rife for a while that Nyong’o would play a role since her career seemed fairly quiet after such a high profile win (I think we’re still all collectively choosing to pretend Non-Stop never happened).

Christie will be busy juggling her recurring role in Game of Thrones with Star Wars, as well as a role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

They join a cast already including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, as well as up and coming talent such as Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Domnhall Gleeson.
