A sold out Camden Barfly played host to Cheltenham sextet Young Kato with the very capable support of Dalaro and Peasant’s King. The show at Barfly had been sold out for five months and they didn’t disappoint the long awaiting followers.
The Young Kato tour is coming to a close and their album “Don’t Wait ’Til Tomorrow” is released 3rd May and the excitement about this release was felt amongst the crowd. The venue was busy from the beginning, with queues of young fans lining up outside waiting to be allowed in; whilst their older followers prepared themselves inside for the madness which unfolded throughout the performance.
Dalaro opened the show to great reception, with Peasant’s King keeping up the audiences energy and warming them up for the headline act. Drum sticks and a tambourine had been thrown into the crowd by the support bands and they were waved religiously amongst the fans for the remainder of the show.
Young Kato came on stage to the sound of screams and cheers from the mix of fans they had brought to the show. They began their set with some of the fans’ favourites making the floorboards bend and bounce more than I have ever experienced before. Everybody in the room was jumping around to their energetic music and lively stage presence.
As the night progressed, Young Kato treated the fans to some of the tracks from their upcoming album which they had never heard before. Despite being brand new to the audience they managed to learn the chorus very quickly and sang along with the parts they could, dancing all the way through.
The audience were full of energy from beginning to end; waving hands, dancing, jumping and singing to every song. The crowd’s reaction mirrored the excellent performance on the stage and neither section looked they ever wanted it to end.
Young Kato’s album is released 3rd May with their album release show at The Macbeth in London on the 7th May. If the songs they played live are any indication of how good the album is going to be then it is definitely worth buying and making the time to go and see them.
