Live Review: Raglans – Borderline, London – 25/03/15

Coming towards the end of their UK Tour, Raglans certainly haven’t run out of steam as they delivered an incredible and energetic show at the Borderline, London. With excellent support by Secret Company and Stickman Cartel the show set off brilliantly.

Unlike some other shows in small underground venues, the crowd were right up to the stage from early on making it a lot more personal and intense. By the end of Stickman Cartel’s set the main floor of the Borderline was buzzing with punters eagerly awaiting the Irish four-piece; many of whom donning Raglans t-shirts.

Raglans came on stage to enormous applaud and began their show with such powerful energy that was gratefully received by the audience. They played the majority of their debut self-titled album which went down wonderfully as the audience sang every word louder than they could perform it themselves. The amazement and awe was visible on the faces of the Raglans members as they enjoyed their performance as much as the crowd did.

They treated the audience to two new songs, ‘Icarus’ and ‘The Bitter End’ which were both extremely catchy and managed to get large groups singing back the chorus, despite never hearing it before.

Raglans ended their set with the opening track to their album ‘Digging Holes’ which didn’t need to be sang by the band as the audience took control and sang it for them. The energy was still as strong in this song as it was when they band began their set, displaying an excellent stage presence that will only grow further. Throwing a drum into the crowd and kicking over cymbals; they definitely ended on a high and the crowd clearly appreciated it, several of whom sticking around in the venue a little longer to soak up the atmosphere and band.

Raglans are one of the best live bands I’ve seen and definitely worth going out of your way to catch them.
