Kicking off the second Thursday in the 2014 Bulmers Live at Leopardstown series was the fantastic, Dublin twin duo, Heathers.

Consisting of Ellie and Louise MacNamara, the band is very much harmony driven, and they certainly delivered on that front at Leopardstown.

Gracing their set with a naturally engaging stage presence, Heathers performed a variety of their strongest tracks, both old and new, ‘Here, Not There’ and ‘Kingdom’ style.

Slotting their well-known ‘Forget Me Knots’ quite early on in the set drew the distant and spread out people into an assembled crowd towards the stage, which only grew as the evening progressed.

Other stand-out tracks from the set include ‘Margie’, before which Ellie revealed the story behind, ‘Underground Beneath’, which was performed with impeccable energy and outstanding harmony control, and ‘Remember When’, the song that sort became an icon for Heathers in their early days as an up and coming band.

Finishing up their set on the more mellow, laid back ‘Gather Up’, an encore was insisted upon and they were back (before they’d even left the stage!) with ‘Find A Way’.

A really strong performance from one of Ireland’s most impressive talents on the scene at the moment. You know you’re onto something good when a band’s releases are justified by their live performance. That’s Heathers in a nutshell.
