Lido reworks Rihanna, Kanye & McCartney’s FourFiveSeconds

Fresh faced Lido is on a roll. At 22 he has more remixes under his belt than your hipster mate with the beard and a mac from Shoreditch.

The Norwegian youth has somewhat of a Midas touch, trademarking a synth driven electro vibe, and with new remixes appearing every week, we felt he deserved some well earned airtime.

I’ll start with a day old remix of the two day old (yes you read that right) Rihanna, Kanye & Paul McCartney track ‘FourFiveSeconds’. This comes as the only rework that isn’t absolutely blinding. And I can forgive Lido for this as I’ve only had this morning to hear it and decide if it’s a 9 or 10 out of 10. The SoundCloud monkeys have already taken it down due to copyright infringement but it’ll be back up soon, once they decide to hire some real people with common sense. Meanwhile, here’s a link to it on YouTube.

Surprisingly, a standout from the 15 track free giveaway, comes from a Bastille remix. Usually I would argue that you can’t polish a turd, but this is gorgeous. Lido’s ability to weave new sounds into some of the biggest tracks of the charts gives credence to the next generation of youngsters who are already pushing the boundaries with sounds and imaging.

Also blessed with a Lido remix is none other than Bill Withers’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine, which satisfies anyone with a hankering for a groovy beat and insanely iconic vocals. With his debut release on Pelican Fly in June last year, and two albums peaking top 10 in Norway, he’s about to become as much a national treasure as their fjords. I certainly pine for both.

You can find all of his 2014 remixes for free here where you play ‘guess the notes’ to unlock the goodies. Don’t you feel like you deserve the free tracks now you worked for them a little?
