Launchbox: Staring Out The Sun

After 2 wonderful years of supporting new, emerging talent from London and the South-East, House Of Savages is pressing pause and allowing everyone to chill out, attend all those autumn gigs and enjoy a good Christmas break before assessing the terrain. They’ll be balloons and cake (as with any birthday) and the bar will sort you out for any beverage of your choice for a set fee of course. The George Tavern has been a very special home for us as promoters, music-lovers and live music fans and we hope to return as guests many times again in the future.

I first saw Staring Out The Sun as part of Camden Rocks festival earlier this year. It was a busy day in an already busy Camden, but this part of London has always surprised me and been a true home of outstanding talent. Frontman John is perhaps the happiest man next to Dave Grohl in a band and the level of musicianship is akin to those on the arena circuit. It feels like we’ve pocketed quite a special headliner for our 2nd birthday at House Of Savages.

“Break The Silence” –  available to hear on their Soundcloud page – is an EP-sized introduction to their style of alt rock that pans punk pop, core alt. rock and more anthemic numbers that fans from You Me At Six through Lower Than Atlantis can get into. Their rich and energetic sets aren’t just to watch though; with strobe lighting and lols a plenty from the band members, it’s a really entertaining show backed by a fully functioning and talented rock band.
