Launchbox: SOAK

SOAK, aka Bridie Monds-Watson, is an Irish singer/songwriter originating from Derry, before growing up in Belfast.

After releasing her first EP, ‘Trains’, in March last year, SOAK found herself receiving respectable acclamation across Ireland, setting her up nicely for the release of her second EP- ‘Sea Creatures’- a mass of acoustic classics, garnished with an irresistibly unique tint.

Beginning her music career at open mic nights at a place called Café del Mondo, her live experience saw her fill the acoustic tent at Glastonbury 2012. Following her recent set at Indiependence Festival, SOAK’s popularity is continuing to grow and grow and you can be sure it won’t stop here. Recognition seems to be clinging to this exciting new talent, especially in the form of BBC Radio’s Stuart Bailie, as he expressed “she manifests great talent the way that zebras wear stripes”.

Set for massive heights in the near future, SOAK’s music is already on the rapid rise on Ireland’s eyes; let’s watch her tackle the rest of the world.
