Launchbox: GILLBANKS

Beautiful echos of shoegaze, grunge, indie and punk in varying doses, GILLBANKS is a great alternative act to start up your 2016.  Simplicity is key here, with strummed chords and layered vocals this is a great underground act to compliment the breaking of similar genre acts into the mainstream over the past 6 months or so.

House Of Savages is delighted to open the 2016 gig season with Falmouth’s hottest export. Churning up the blogosphere in late 2015 with the release of a few tracks, music fans were wildly searching for live dates and opportunities to find out more about this genuinely fresh sounding indie-alt act. It’s always exciting to share some of those ‘first’ moments with acts and for many of you reading, the eve of the 20th January will be the first time you saw GILLBANKS live.

In each of this artists tracks that are public at the time of publish, we meet a different indie-fueled aspect to his aural persona. With influences hear from the likes of Death Cab for Cutie through to Cymbals Eat Guitars and even comparables with newcomers VANT. “Anxious!” has been the first stop for many, bringing in an infectious broken chord entrance that could be affiliated with the likes of Pretty Vicious, Arctic Monkeys, FIDLAR…the list goes on as you isolate the aspects of production that capture your ear. Whatever your style and taste, you’ll find a hook.

Whether you’re into the riffs, the power-chords, the ethereal dream-wave or lo-fi, this is a fantastic triple hit of talent and intrigue that you can sample for free with complimentary acts this January at House Of Savages. The lists of ‘who to watch in 2016’ can get long and muddled as people strive to shout loudest about who they believe will have a successful year, but sometimes you have to remember, the artists music will always run true. GILLBANKS is a really exciting addition to the new music platter in 2016 and with the likes of Day Wave and other contemporaries cutting through the market, this could certainly be a fantastic year for this artist.
