Launchbox: Fiends

This perfect combination of the catchy crowd pleaser tunes and spontaneous melodic direction is significantly hard to come by in an age of manufactured pop.  Young London lads, Fiends have hit the sweet spot earning them this months Launch box feature ahead of House Of Savages next London date.

Fiends wide scope of musical influences are very much evident in their sound, within 3min and 55 sec the lads can take you from an intricate, haunting melody to a heavy handed ‘sing-song’ chorus to what can only be described as a Slash style guitar solo. Being as obsessed as we are about music hear at House of Savages it comes as no shock that when we stumbled upon the boys single “Ware Paint”, we had to hunt them down to join us at The George Tavern!

Stylised for this 2015 rock world, Fiends material definitely hits similarities with the likes of Lower than Atlantis and Funeral for a Friend. The current single “War Paint” (produced by Chris Coulter) starts with a riff that has a sense of familiarity: then you realise it sounds like the dark, twisted cousin of Temper Tramp’s, “Sweet Disposition”. GENIUS! I know you may think I’m crazy at this point but go listen to it and see if I’m not right! The rest of the track is filled with explosive guitar licks, complex melodies and solemn lyrics that will keep you wanting more.

Fiends without a doubt are one of those bands that have a little something for everybody, cramming so much information into their three minute tracks the listener is always kept in suspense. So what kind of a show should you expect from Fiends at House Of Savages this month? Who knows. One thing’s for sure; you better strap in because it’s gonna be rollercoaster of a ride!
