Klitschko Reigns, As Haye’s Down Under

Wladimir Klitschko recently successfully defended his many boxing championship belts against the Polish Mariusz Wach. Whilst, David Haye, who is desperate for a shot to fight Klitschko again, recently competed against Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

To say there is a difference in the two boxers training is an understatement.

Of course there is not a fight planned between the pair, but after Haye lost his titles to Klitschko on a points decision and also complained of a broken toe during the fight. There has been flirtation with the possibility of a rematch.

But Haye’s appearance in the jungle suggests his main priorities are not trying to lure Klitschko back into the ring, but rather keeping his popular personality still in the public eye.

Unless of course, Klitschko is a massive fan of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and has always wanted to appear on the show, and Haye’s appearance on the show will entice the Ukrainian into a fit of rage; therefore ultimately leading to the rematch Haye craves so much.

But placing you back into reality, the problem of course is Haye would have to work really hard to get a chance to win his titles back, and his stint in the jungle proves it may just be that little to hard.

After Haye’s defeat to Klitschko he announced his retirement, like he always said he would, on his 31st birthday. This was respected in the boxing world as ‘The Hayemaker’ didn’t waver from his promise.

Of course he broke this promise by facing Dereck Chisora, in what seemed more of a publicity stunt as a feud between the two, rather than a career enhancing fight for Haye.

His fight against Klitschko was possibly the greatest fighter he ever came across, and he didn’t have enough in him to topple the Ukrainian. This reality stint from Haye gives a good indicator that he won’t be fighting Klitschko or anyone better for that matter.

A lesson learnt perhaps from Ricky Hatton, who after losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr went on to face the equally daunting Manny Pacquaio and suffered a horrific loss. Hatton is now rebuilding his boxing and financial career, with a return to boxing against Vyacheslav Senchenko.

I suppose beating a Made in Chelsea star to win a few packs of rice is just that little bit easier to keeping your career going.
