Jarmila Xymena Gorna releases bilingual art-rock single Escape – Dihangfa

Enchanting singer songwriter and composer Jarmila Xymena Gorna has unveiled her bilingual art-rock number, Escape – Dihangfa.

Produced by Gorna, dressed acoustically by Grammy award winners George Murphy and Stuart Hawkes and featuring Welsh artist Philip Lee Jones as well as David Farren of Bad Manners fame, the track tells the story of two star-crossed lovers who find one another in mid-life. Written by Gorna after the loss of both her parents to Alzheimer’s, the themes of the song are emotionally charged as Gorna takes on the role of ‘The Woman’, apprehensive of a future that could see her living with the disease and the potential impact upon the lovers’ future.

Melding elements of art-rock, Celtic folk, witchy pop with the English/Welsh call and receive of Gorna and Jones, Escape – Dihangfa takes the listener on a spiritual journey. Told through the eyes of Gorna and her lived experiences, the track plays out like something of a fable, Gorna navigating the enduring scars of her parents passing.

Jarmila Xymena Gorna’s unique performances have been seen all over the world, ranging from the ICA and Jazz Cafe to Catania, Sicily and the Big Big World Festival in Scotland. The collaboration with Jones is a beautiful, artistic synchronicity. The “Voice of the Slate” whose work as a poet, multi-instrumentalist and artist is rooted in the landscape of North Wales, Jones performs his poetic magic to adapt Gorna’s lyrics into a seamless, mystical Welsh dialogue.

Escape – Dihangfa is out now.
