Social media has become a platform for many artists to capitalise on targeting international support, so we at Fortitude take our utmost in listening to every message, link or tweet that seem to be fired our way.
We do admit that sometimes we receive some hideous material and we wish that we could replace those 2-4 minutes that we wasted discovering new cat meme’s on the internet (if you need a way to our heart, include it in your email), but occasionally we stumble across acts that leave us crazing some more.
In my case, this has happened when discovering a Canadian duo called Laurelle & Alexander.
They’re signed to UK independent Boom Ting Records and, in all honesty, it’s a label that I never really gave too much thought to check out. I know of Jakwob, I’ve heard some things from Etherwood and, other than that, I don’t really follow too much of their activity.
Following on from a lovely, conversational, “hellooo”, via Twitter, by Alex; my exploration of Laurelle & Alexander begun. A duo that manages to display the style that seems to be appearing so much from Canada at the moment – electronic-pop (just take a look at Grimes or Doldrums to understand).
‘Way Back When’ is the free single, which is available to stream below, and it’s full of everything your chilled playlist requires; synthetic hooks, repetitive choruses and melodic beats to help you settle and escape any woes that are racing through your weary mind.

Laurelle & Alexander plan to head over to the UK, in the not-so distant future, as they begin a worldwide celebration of their free EP release ‘Life Underwater’.
