Introducing: Bear’s Den

For those who don’t know Bear’s Den are, they are an acoustic 3-piece band from London that are really quite marvellous. I stumbled across them when I saw a tweet with the Youtube link to their stunning song ‘Pompeii’.

After hearing it I had to buy some music, a quick trip to the iTunes store and I found their EP “Agape”.  The first thing that sprang to mind, as I listened to the release, was that they sound remarkable like the slower Mumford & Sons songs. This is in no way a bad thing, which is probably why they supported them in their second 02 Arena show last December. Lead singer, and songwriter, Andrew Davie vocals are clean and beautiful.

While the lyrics and song themes of the album are sad, when you listen to them you want to be sat in a country side pub on a bitter November’s evening watching them play by an open fire surrounded by friends. There is something uplifting about the songs, despite the miserable themes throughout.

Continuing on from a massive 2012 for the band, after playing shows in America and supporting Of Monsters and Men and Mumford & sons, 2013 is already looking equally as big for them. With the release of their EP “Agape” and just finishing their UK and Ireland tour promoting it, the band is playing an EP launch in London in March, then off to North America to play some shows.

They are perfect to beat the bitter winter UK nights and would go perfectly with some sun, cider and a field to hear them play in the summer months.
