Indie13: Who to Watch Out For

It’s that time of year again where everyone’s looking at Festival line-ups from all over, wishing they could pick and choose from many and mash them together; well look no further than Indiependence Festival, Cork for the perfect mix.

Indie13 has stormed through peoples’ expectations and delivered what can easily be classed as one of the strongest line-ups this summer. Taking place in Deer Farm, Michelstown, with a small capacity of 5,000 people, this festival is perfect to get up close and personal with some of your favourite acts.

Here’s a list of just some of the many acts to watch out for at Indiependence this year:

1.       Bastille

After building themselves up in the music industry in the space of a few months, unique-sounding, energetic performers, Bastille are set to headline in Cork this year. After their much acclaimed Glastonbury performance, you’d be mad to miss these guys belting out tracks from their UK No.1 album- ‘Bad Blood’.

2.       Kodaline

Local Irish heroes, Kodaline are bound to draw a massive crowd to the stage, having left massive footsteps with their recent debut album- ‘In A Perfect World’. With a sound reminiscent of U2, the electric sound from this 4-piece will just echo festival vibes at Indiependence.

3.       Funeral for a Friend

Although Funeral for a Friend have been sorely missed from the spotlight in recent years, they are back to deliver at Indiependence this year. With live experience shining at its best in this band, Funeral for a Friend’s performance should be top notch. With a heavier sound than a lot of acts set for this festival, there’s a sound for everyone. This might just be the set to encourage a bit of craze about the place- and everyone wants that!

4.       Hudson Taylor

On the rise, acoustic folk/rock duo, Hudson Taylor are taking opportunity after opportunity to accelerate through the Irish music scene. Having been amongst the massive line up for the Bulmers Live at Leopardstown series, not to mention their slot on The Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury, Hudson Taylor will be rocking the festival vibe back in Ireland , and I expect them to get a proper Irish welcome.
