HVMM – ‘Talk To Me Like I’m Dead’

Possibly the most exciting thing to come out of Worcester since the sauce, new kids on the block HVMM’s debut EP ’Talk To Me Like I’m Dead’ is full of raucous attitude and angst.

Kicking off with their debut single ‘Lacerate’, this feels like a perfect introduction to the EP. The track is filled with swag, pulsating beats and thrashing guitars. Lead singer Andy Teece’s conversational vocal tone immediately takes centre stage, sounding akin to the likes of Jack White’s colloquial style.

‘1924’ takes the pace down a tad but there’s still a helluva lot of attitude still going on throughout. Minimalist electronics simmer underneath Ebony Clay’s reverb heavy guitar and Andy’s distinctive vocal. We then come to ‘Beggars and Thieves’ which could easily be heard in a film where the lads on stomping there way to battle. Yet again, Ebony Clay proves her worth as the only female in the band by showing she has bigger balls and a better guitar technique than you.

‘Going Postal’ is possibly the strongest track on the EP in our opinion. The chorus is undeniably catchy and will immediately get you singing along and stomping to the enticing beat.

These guys are unapologetically heavy and we love it.

‘Talk To Me Like I’m Dead’ is out now via ILA.
