Hugh Jackman Joins X-Men: Days Of Future Past

It was known that Hugh Jackman was in talks in late November to make an appearance in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. But now director, Bryan Singer, has officially confirmed that fan favourite Wolverine will return for the upcoming movie.

The news was announced on Twitter with Bryan tweeting, “I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…”

For those who do not know, Days of Future Past will be based on the comic book, ‘The Uncanny X-Men’, issues 141 and 142. In these editions, there are two storylines. One is set in the future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels after the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants assassinate Senator Robert Kelly. The other is set in the present in which the younger X-Men attempt to stop the assassination to prevent the future coming true. Obviously, this is a very complicated storyline and so it will be interesting to see whether Singer is up to the task.

The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine will of course be exciting news for X-Men fans. But what also might excite them is the fact Singer hints that there is more to come. Who would you like to see return to the franchise? Halle Berry as Storm? James Marsden as Cyclops? Maybe even Vinny Jones as the Juggernaut? Maybe not…

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released on July 18th, 2014. However, you will be able see Jackman as Wolverine a year before in The Wolverine, which will hit our screens on July 25th, 2013.
