Horse Jumper of Love Bring Their Cult Debut Album to Strange Brew, Bristol

Boston slowcore trio Horse Jumper of Love bring their acclaimed self-titled debut album to Strange Brew, Bristol, on Tuesday 3rd November, performing the record in full from start to finish.

Fans of slow-burning guitar music and introspective indie rock are in for a treat this November as Horse Jumper of Love return to Bristol for a special performance at Strange Brew.

Emerging from Boston’s DIY music scene, Horse Jumper of Love have carved out a distinctive space in contemporary alternative music, combining hazy guitar textures, unhurried rhythms and intimate, emotionally charged songwriting. Their sound draws on the atmospheric qualities of slowcore and shoegaze, balancing delicate, almost fragile vocals with guitars that gradually build into something altogether more expansive.

The band first made their mark with their self-titled debut album in 2016, a record that went on to become an underground favourite within the DIY indie scene. Tracks such as ‘Orange Peeler’ and ‘Ugly Brunette’ capture the group’s ability to make understated arrangements feel deeply affecting, finding beauty in the spaces between notes as much as in the melodies themselves.

Now, marking a decade since the album’s original release, Horse Jumper of Love are taking the record back on the road, performing it in its entirety. The anniversary also coincides with the release of a deluxe edition of the debut, featuring remastered recordings alongside previously unreleased material, demos and alternate takes.

Since those early recordings, the trio have continued to evolve their sound across releases including So Divine (2019), Natural Part (2022) and Disaster Trick (2024), expanding their sonic palette while retaining the understated intensity and vulnerability that first drew listeners in.

Their forthcoming Bristol show promises an opportunity to experience the record as a complete work, from its quieter, more intimate moments to its slow-building guitar passages, in the intimate surroundings of Strange Brew.

Presented by Crosstown Concerts, Horse Jumper of Love play Strange Brew, Bristol, on Tuesday 3rd November. Doors open at 7pm, with support to be announced.
