Final Fantasy XIV: ‘A Realm Reborn’ Announce Beta Registration

Square Enix has announced at the beginning of this month that the initial beta testing for the revamped Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG is starting. They are now recruiting gamers to become live play testers.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the new title given to the revamp being done to the latest FF franchise that flopped after being released for beta gaming from 30 September 2010 to 11 November 2012. After receiving massive negative feedback from gamers and fans, director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced that the game will undergo a major overhaul and will be re-launched as a new game with the subtitle A Realm Reborn.

The Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) genre had been a tidal wave hit in the early to mid 2000s with gaming companies like Blizzard, Namco, and Monolith banking in on the success. MMORPGs lead to the evolution of other online gaming genres that we currently enjoy. Online Games now range from the DotA and World of Warcraft phases of Blizzard, to third-person shoot-em ups like CounterStrike from early 2000. Even long running anime franchises become basis of inspiration like Gundam Online, currently rising in popularity at present.

There are also simpler interactive games that are playable online, many of which are accessible in social media giant Facebook. Social gaming and entertainment have also gone online and are gathering followers exponentially. Sites like Cheekybingo have been successful in undertaking this endeavor. From simple bingo games, the site now includes other slot and casino games. A main factor that gives these sites success in hosting online gaming is the interactivity that’s brought by well-maintained online communities.

To help FFXIV: A Realm Reborn be successful in the development of their refurbished game, Square Enix have put up an online forum for the gamers who signed up to participate in the Beta Testing. The latest Final Fantasy franchise is set for full live release this mid-2013. Hopefully, the Japanese gaming enterprise will be coming up with an up-to-standard gaming experience as the company has been trudging on shaky ground due to fan-claimed substandard game releases during the past few years.
