EP Review: Sam Brockington – Peace Of Mind

Stylish, baritone singer-songwriter Sam Brockington returns with his debut EP ‘Peace Of Mind’. It features last year’s critically acclaimed single ‘Follow’ along with four brand new tracks that showcase Sam’s dynamic sound.

Since the release of ‘Follow’, which has gained over 190,000 plays on Spotify, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Sam’s first EP and it was certainly worth the wait.

Sam released title-track ‘Peace Of Mind’ as his second single from the EP; filled with delicate guitar parts and whimsical vocal melodies that transcend into a full band arrangement at the end of the song. The second track on the EP is understandably Sam’s most popular track to date, ‘Follow’, giving off feel-good vibes as well as channeling raw emotion that is key to Sam’s unique sound and vocal style.

‘Manta Ray’, Sam’s third single, is certainly one of his best to date, incorporating catchy, tongue twisting vocals and dark, sombre moments to contrast the uptempo nature of the track. ‘Unstitched’ evokes more relaxed elements of Sam’s writing style, keeping his folk influences alive in this emotively stunning song. Closing track ‘Cold Feet’ completes the EP perfectly, swarming with versatile vocal stylings and building tension throughout, refraining from a generic pop structure.

Although Sam is still a beginner in a lot of ways, his talent in undeniable and with a bit of fine tuning, who knows where we’ll see him next…

‘Peace Of Mind’ is out now via Prospect 21.
